So delighted to see the Channel 5 , Season 2, Episode 1, ‘A Year By The Sea’ , documentary following the beautiful Cornish heritage and countryside. https://www.channel5.com/show/cornwall-a-year-by-the-sea/season-2
In the first instalment they featured the Global Pasty Championships, held at the Lost Gardens of Heligan in March and co-inciding with St Pirans’ Day - the National Day of Cornwall.
Phat Pasty Co were featured across the 1st Episode (season 2) and Phat were delighted to be crowned ‘Cornwalls Best Cornish Pasty’ at the 2026 Championships.
Bringing together both professional and amateur Pasty makers the day was a celebration of the great Cornish Pasty, heritage of Cornwall and the art of pasty making.
The Cornish Pasty was granted PGI (protected status) and now must be made in Cornwall with the 4 key ingredients of beef, potatoe, onion and swede. All crimped (on the side with no fewer than 16 crimps!) and based upon the traditional miners meals, from the Cornish tin mines.
Cornish pasties are now found across the UK, although to be called a Cornish Pasty, must be made in Cornwall and to this recipe. https://www.google.com/search?q=cornish+pasty+association&rlz=1C5MACD_enGB1104GB1107&oq=cornish+pasty+asso&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqDAgAECMYJxiABBiKBTIMCAAQIxgnGIAEGIoFMgYIARBFGDkyBwgCEAAYgAQyBwgDEAAYgAQyCAgEEAAYFhgeMggIBRAAGBYYHjINCAYQABiGAxiABBiKBTINCAcQABiGAxiABBiKBTIHCAgQABjvBTIHCAkQABjvBagCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
