Featured on Channel 5 : ‘A Year By The Sea’ and The Global Pasty Championships
It was so great to see the recent feature on Channel 5 Series - A Year By The Sea and the feature showing the Pasty Championships held at Heligan Gardens in March.
The programme in it’s second series, followed the Global Pasty Championships and showcased the best of Cornwall, all held in the beautiful Lost Gardens Of Heligan https://www.heligan.com/events-at-heligan/global-pasty-championships/
The event was arranged by The Cornish Pasty Association and sought to bring together pasty makers, both professional and amateur from across the county, all competing for Cornwalls Best Pasty. https://cornishpastyassociation.co.uk/
This year we were delighted to follow up with a Win for our Traditional Cornish Pasty, having previously being the winners at The Eden Project, when it was named the World Pasty Championships…maybe in 2035 it will be the Galactic Pasty Championship!
The whole event was filled with fun, celebrating the artisan and protected status of the Cornish Pasty. Ours are still handmade in Cornwall to the recipe of beef, potato, onion and swede and proudly side crimped (a minimum of 16 crimps). We ensure our traditional Cornish Pasty is made with British Red Tractor https://redtractor.org.uk/assurance/standard-categories/beef-and-lamb/ beef and made with 25% more beef than required as a ‘standard’ Cornish pasty. We also ensure our blend of seasoning is carefully maintained and hand-crimped in our shortcrust pastry - egg washed and ready for the oven!
Winning this fantastic award helps us ensure we maintain our exacting standards, whether selling in National Trust Cafes, in Welcome Break service stations, on ferries, Universities or across our many independant restaurants and cafes - every Cornish pasty is made to this same recipe.
Now offering Pasties by Post, and a Cornish Pasty Delivery service, we are also able to send pasties direct to customers to enjoy and bake at home.
Special thanks to Channel 5 for the fantastic showcase of the best of Cornwall !
